Walking Football
Think your football days are over?
Is MYFC exclusive to youth football?

The answer to both is no, think again!
MYFC is forever young: no age limit...

We introduced Walking Football in 2017.
It is a minimal-contact sport with one main difference to standard football: no running.

Player Spotlight! Tim Thresher
2026 FA CUP FINAL HONOUR!
MYFC's very own Tim Thresher is an avid Chelsea Fan and was given the honour of being the lead officer of the RAF, taking the Chelsea Flag onto the pitch with other RAF colleagues prior to the kick-off. He then enjoyed the spectacle of his beloved Chelsea playing in the Final, only to lose 1-0 on the day. In Tim's own words:

"Well, I've had worse days at work! It was an amazing experience... until the 72nd minute, that is, probably one of the best 3/4 of a day in my life. But I did get to meet Steven Gerrard, Micah Richards and Noel Gallagher (not sure if that made it better or worse!)

On the pitch, the noise was incredible, and standing on the hallowed turf looking at Prince William was a bit surreal. But, looking up at the amassed Chelsea hordes all staring down as the Chelsea players came out onto the pitch was (for me) a truly magical moment and made me very proud"

Marlborough Walking Football Group is always interested in new players joining. We play at St John's Academy, Granham Hill, Marlborough, on Monday evenings, 6 pm-7pm, and have the luxury of playing on a brand-new 3G facility in good weather and indoors when it's not so good. Come and join the party!!!
Tim has been playing regularly with MYFC's Walking Football group for several years now. Here is what he says about it:

"I've played competitive football all my life, so it was disappointing to eventually have to admit to myself that I no longer had the legs to chase guys half my age around a pitch for 90 minutes. Fed up with my sulking about it, my wife suggested I try walking football instead. It really has been a new lease of footballing life for me- great bunch of guys to play with, some brilliant games whilst respecting mixed abilities and ages, and some great banter and laughs along the way. Our curry night socials at Christmas are legendary!!.

I honestly thought my footballing days were over, but in fact, it feels like a new chapter has only just begun. To anyone who loves the beautiful game, I would simply say, come and try it- you won't be disappointed".
